Purpose of Job : Overall management and responsibility for the branch’s profitability, operations, and employee performance. Responsible for leading employees to hit set targets, support standard operating procedures, and guide/deliver quality service. Serves as a sounding board and confidant to the president and senior vice president of the company.

Primary Duties :

  • Direct supervision of shop workers, project managers, estimating and sales staff, warehouse, shipping and receiving, and inventory management to ensure quality and efficient operations and create a service-oriented workplace.
  • Communicate areas of responsibility and performance expectations to direct reports, creating clear goals and expectations; ensure accountability for performance.
  • Recruit and retain a qualified workforce. Involves interviewing candidates, extending job offers, onboarding, and new hire and annual performance reviews.
  • Monitor training and personal and professional development of employees. Includes issuing plans for improvements and the possible termination of employment for the employee.
  • Oversee and coordinate improvements, maintenance, and renovations to buildings and grounds and ensure a safe workplace.
  • Recommend capital expenditures for acquiring new equipment, increasing efficiency and services.
  • Conduct a bi-weekly review of back-order status, purchasing, and shipping/invoicing for all Project Managers at the branch.
  • Complete work orders in Comsense that the shop has finished.
  • Track shop variances.
  • Serve as a liaison: between the shop, staff, management, and administration.
  • Monitor and approve payroll hours for assigned employees to ensure compliance with payroll policies.
  • Oversee transfer truck.
  • Assist delivery coordination for the Pittsburgh branch and other branches.
  • Perform administrative functions: Maintains hard copy “management notes” files and keeps notes for tactical, staff, and administrative meetings.
  • Oversees special projects as assigned (i.e., Anniversary Celebrations, Recognition awards, logo clothing, etc.)

  • The Shop
  • Shipping and Receiving
  • The Warehouse
  • Project managers
  • Estimating/Sales
  • Counter Sales
  • Inventory control
  • This requires supervising a staff of 10-13, including union and nonunion workers.

Key Result Areas as established with President.
Ability to lead the team to perform quality work and complete
assignments on time and within budget.
Ability to work well with team members and vendors.
Ability to manage others and get results.

Experience/Education Required </strong :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent industry-related work experience
  • Minimum of five years of management experience, including supervision of a minimum of three direct reports
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in construction
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (MS Word and Excel)
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and written skills
  • Ability to multitask, manage complex projects with deadlines, and ability to set priorities.
  • Must be able to work with confidential information professionally.

Work Schedule :
Monday – Friday; 8-hour workday with ½ hour unpaid lunch period
Responsibilities will require additional work hours

Salary Range :
$95,000-$108,000 per year based on experience
Paid every two weeks

Additional factors :
Must pass criminal and motor vehicle background checks.
Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
