Congratulations to our 2024 Annual Scholarship Winners!
Cassidy Laffey – Cassidy is currently attending The University of Pittsburgh where she’s studying Civil & Environmental Engineering in the Swanson School of Engineering, aspiring to work as an Environmental Engineer in the renewable energy sector. Currently working as Shaler Township’s Civil Engineer summer intern, Cassidy works collaboratively with the Public Works team and Gateway Engineering to inspect sanitation lines and gain hands-on experience. She’s a member and Social Outreach Coordinator for an a cappella group, Sounds Like Treble, and involved with the Society of Women Engineers and Engineering Without Borders. Cassidy is the daughter of Timothy J. Laffey, of PBX member Ferry Electric, in Pittsburgh, PA.
Ethan Iams – Ethan is currently attending Baylor University, where he’s studying Mechanical Engineering, aspiring to work in Automotive Engineering and Design. Ethan serves at the Vice President of Engineers with a Mission (EM), a member of Baylor University’s Baja SAE club, and is in the Tau Sigma National Honor Society. He’s a graduate of Trinity High School, where he was the Salutatorian of his 2022 high school graduating class, and involved in the Chamber Choir, Varsity Volleyball, and Club Ultimate Frisbee. Ethan is the son of Clint Iams, of PBX member Log Cabin Fence Co., in Amity, PA.
Two one-year Scholarships of $3,000 have been awarded to students pursuing an education in fields such as Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business as well as other related fields. The Annual Scholarship Program announcements are sent out each year around the 1st of May. This Program is open to any employee or immediate family member of an employee of a PBX® member. Since the program began in 1986 the Annual Scholarship Program has awarded over $125,000 to exemplary recipients. The Pennsylvania Builders Exchange is proud to give back to the community and support the construction industry with this program.
