About Our Winners

Alexander Weiss – Alexander is currently attending West Virginia University, where he’s a dual major in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering within the Honor’s College, aspiring to become a Design Engineer for a construction machinery company. Alexander is an active member of West Virginia University’s Honors College and is the CFO and Aerodynamics Sub team Captain of WVU’s Society of Automotive Engineers team that designs, builds, and tests a Formula-1 style car from the ground up. He’s a graduate of Chartiers Houston Junior/Senior High School and is the son of David Weiss, of PBX member Mosites Construction, in Pittsburgh, PA.

Luke Beckert – Luke is currently attending ECPI University Online, where he’s studying Mechanical Engineering, and is a full-time Mechanical Drafter of PBX member SSM Industries, in Pittsburgh, PA. Luke’s education has provided him skills in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, CAD modeling, and Parametric Design that has had a direct impact on his full-time job. He aspires to transition from drafting to a Project Engineer or Lead Designer role. Luke is a graduate of Hampton High School, where he was on the Honor Roll and collaborated with community members to improve local water quality, protect ecosystems, and maintain safe public recreational spaces.
