Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing plans, specifications, and other project documents. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects are completed within budget and align with company profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project scope, conditions, and constraints.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost analyses for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to gather necessary information and clarify project details.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Monitor and update cost estimates as project conditions change.
  • Maintain and update a database of cost information for various construction materials and labor rates.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive bid proposals and cost breakdowns.
  • Maintain detailed records of estimates, bids, and related correspondence for future reference and analysis
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and regulations.
  • Participate in project meetings to offer insights and recommendations on cost-related matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. However, relevant work or field experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating or a related role.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Procore, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
