Richard Goettle, Inc., a leading geotechnical construction company specializing in design/build solutions for challenging projects for 70 years, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our Pittsburgh team as a Drafter/Designer.
Job Description
Support engineering, project management, and operations through the creation of shop drawings for submittal and field use. Create and modify detailed drawings, 3D models, and other technical documentation. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and high-quality outputs across a variety of projects.
Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
- Produce shop drawings of the highest caliber, consistent with Goettle’s commitment to professionalism
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop drawings consistent with the project design
- Review and resolve layout conflicts and issues with existing structures, utilities, etc.
- Read and interpret engineering specifications, preliminary designs, sketches, and drawings
- Communicate effectively with design engineers, project managers, and superintendents
- Perform mathematical, geometrical, and engineering computations
- Examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications or design documents
- Perform other duties as assigned (project take-off, estimating, project management)
Requirements
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Ability to read complex blueprints
- Knowledge of basic engineering design principles and construction methods
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as a team and coordinate efforts with the design team
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments while achieving timely, quality results
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background and substance screening process
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Previous experience on infrastructure, civil, or building design projects
- Relevant degree or certification in drafting, architecture, engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with other design software (AutoCAD 3D, BIM 360, etc.)
